Ripple Teams Up with Securitize to Enable Stablecoin Off-Ramp for BlackRock and VanEck

Ripple is expanding the use of its stablecoin, Ripple USD (RLUSD), through a new partnership with Securitize. A platform specializing in real-world assets (RWA) tokenization. This collaboration aims to provide a straightforward way for investors to exchange tokenized funds from BlackRock and VanEck into Ripple USD.

Platform Specializing in Real-World Assets Tokenization

Summary

Ripple and Securitize have joined forces to accelerate the adoption of Ripple USD, allowing users to convert BlackRock’s and VanEck’s tokenized treasury funds into RLUSD. In addition, Securitize will integrate the XRP Ledger to bring real-world assets onto the blockchain.

The goal of this partnership is to offer a new off-ramp for investors holding shares of BlackRock’s USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL) and VanEck’s Treasury Fund (VBILL). A smart contract will enable holders of these tokenized assets to exchange them for RLUSD seamlessly.

Key Points

  • Supported Funds: Initially, the integration will support BlackRock’s BUIDL and VanEck’s VBILL funds. BUIDL, with $2 billion in RWA assets on-chain, is already operational, while VBILL will be available shortly.
  • Instant Conversion: Investors can easily convert tokenized treasury funds into RLUSD. Which can then be utilized for on-chain transactions, yield generation, and other decentralized finance (DeFi) opportunities.

Ripple’s Vision for RLUSD

Ripple, the company behind the XRP cryptocurrency, views this partnership with Securitize as a significant step toward promoting RLUSD. This stablecoin is fully backed 1:1 by the U.S. dollar and is issued under the New York Department of Financial Services Trust Charter. Since its launch in late 2024, RLUSD has already reached a market capitalization of over $741 million. Positioning itself as a competitor to other stablecoins like Tether’s USDT, Circle’s USDC, and PayPal’s PYUSD.

In addition to RLUSD, Securitize is incorporating the XRP Ledger, aiming to expand the functionality and accessibility of tokenized real-world assets across the market.
